Panda Restaurant Group

Panda Restaurant Group is a large chain of fast casual restaurants started by Andrew and Peggy Tsiang Cherng. Andrew's father, Master Chef Ming-Tsai Cherng, immigrated from the Yangzhou region of China's Jiangsu province.

The group started in 1973 with a traditional restaurant called Panda Inn.

Panda Express began as a fast food restaurant in the Glendale Galeria Mall in 1983. It turns out that people like to eat food withoug the high costs associated with seating and tips.

Panda Express had grown to 1,900 stores by 2016 making it the largest family owned Chinese restaurant in America. Corporate headquarters are in Rosemead, Ca.

To order one starts by selecting the size of the meal (bowl, plate or large plate). A bowl as a base of rice, chow mein or veggies and one main topping. A plate gets two toppings and bigger plate gets three toppings.

I really dislike this because I want a mix of rice and veggies. A bowl with a small amount of rice, a small amount of veggies and a topping would be the perfect meal, but they won't let you order that.

If you place a take out group order you can get the food in boxes and mix your own meal.

I will drop pictures of the restaurants as I encounter them in my travels:
